Atmospheric Black Metal Cat Feather soft folk melody giving way to pummeling black metal waves of riffs. Intertwined and equally magnificent. Favorite track: Of Grandest Majesties.

One of the best release of this
genre. Favorite track: I Lift My Voice.

Avery Alternates between ethereal beauty and a wall of noise. Like nothing else. Beneath Highway and Street has the most exhilarating climax I have ever had the privilege of hearing. Favorite track: Beneath Highway and Street.

Philip Moumouris Love the interlude between harsh and melodic sections. Great album.

WelkinDust Petrychor creates colossal walls of sound mixed with almost ethereal passages and compelling folk sections, improved with Tad Piecka's impressive skill with finger-picking. The contrast between the raw, slightly muted guitars in the heavy sections and the gorgeous folk interludes really fascinates me. I hope Tad keeps creating awesome folk-tinged black metal because it's some of the best out there. Favorite track: Of Grandest Majesties.

about

Effigies and Epitaphs is the first full-length album from Petrychor. Crafted as one piece in multiple movements, the album sums up the multi-genre development of the project over a six month period. Ethereal vocals and various folk musics give way to windy guitars, meditative tonal noise and tribal percussion.

Cataclysmic catharsis in remembrance of the scorched earth.

An ambient companion EP, Artistry of Exhaustion II, was composed under the Carbonscape moniker and can be downloaded for free at carbonscape.bandcamp.com. It is meant to be first played immediately following Effigies and Epitaphs.
